Large Dome Houses

Sustainable domes, crafted for premium comfort.

Large Dome Houses

Large domes are well-suited for use as family homes, creative studios, or cozy cafés.

The dome is constructed without a humidity membrane and has been tested for airtightness and energy loss, achieving excellent results in climate comfort and low-energy performance.

All materials used are fully sustainable, including non-toxic impregnated spruce boards on the exterior, a grass turf roof, and interior finishes of either gypsum board or birch plywood.

Family dome 56 m²

This spacious two-story dome, measuring 72.5 m² (net area), is designed as a low-energy, fully sustainable home ideal for a small family. Thoughtfully constructed to ensure comfort, quality, and long-term livability, the dome provides a unique combination of eco-conscious design and modern convenience.

The exterior features non-toxic impregnated spruce boards and a grass turf roof, while the interior is finished with gypsum boards. High-performance insulation includes 350 mm of wood wool paired with a 50 mm layer of sheep wool on the inner section, ensuring excellent thermal efficiency.

Notably, the dome is built without a traditional humidity membrane. It has been rigorously tested by the Danish Technological Institute, receiving outstanding results for both airtightness and energy performance. These tests confirm the dome’s excellent indoor climate and adherence to low-energy building standards.

Interior

The dome features a spacious open-plan kitchen and living area, complemented by a central staircase leading to the first floor, where two well-sized bedrooms provide comfortable accommodation. The bathroom is thoughtfully equipped with technical installations, including a hot water storage tank integrated with both solar thermal energy and a mass stove system.

The dome’s energy consumption for heating and hot water averages just 30 kWh/m²/year. With further adaptation, it can also be configured to meet passive house or zero-energy building standards, offering an even more sustainable living solution.

Addition of two – or several domes – can be made by adding to domes to each other in two manners: on same level or on two levels with a 6 step staircase in between.

At same level: Where two hexagons are put across each other for the door-arrangements.

At two levels: By build (lift up) where the quadrangle fi ts to the upper part of a hexagon.

Interior arrangements and room organisation are quite wide for these added domes i.e. with the daily room and parents room in the one dome, and the childrens rooms and kitchen in the other dome.
